Service History
HMS Belfast was one of the largest light cruisers of the Royal Navy. Early in the war she was badly damaged by a magnetic mine, requiring years of repair and reconstruction.
Returning to service, she played a key role in the Battle of North Cape in 1943, helping sink the German battleship Scharnhorst, and later supported the D-Day landings. She is preserved today as a museum ship on the River Thames.
