Service History
Germany's Type 1936 destroyers were unusually large and heavily armed, mounting guns approaching cruiser caliber. However, they suffered from unreliable high-pressure steam machinery and poor seakeeping.
Many were lost in the two Battles of Narvik in 1940, where a force of German destroyers was trapped and destroyed by the Royal Navy in the Norwegian fjords.
